What limits a bonding line
Underwriters look at working capital, net worth, work in progress, the size of jobs you have already finished, and whether the statements are CPA-prepared. A jump in job size with thin cash, or a WIP that is behind, is usually what holds the line where it is.
How we build the file
We build your file for a higher line and a rate you can bid with. That means the statements, the WIP, the bank line, and the job you actually want to bid — sent as one package, not a stack of missing pages. We do not guarantee the limit. We tell you if the file can support the next job.
What we need
- Business and personal financial statements (last 2–3 years)
- Current work-in-progress schedule
- Bank line / reference
- Resume of key people
- The bid or contract documents for the job
Questions
- What limits a bonding line?
- Working capital, net worth, work in progress, the size of jobs already finished, and whether the statements are CPA-prepared. Those are the items an underwriter weighs. There is no promised number.
- Can the line move before a bid date?
- Only if the file supports it and there is time to read it. Send the job, the statements, and the WIP. We will tell you if a higher line is realistic.
- Do you guarantee a higher limit?
- No. We build the file and take it to a market that writes your class of work. The surety decides the line.
